Cumin and Tamarind Drink |
1/2 cup dried tamarind pulp
2 cups hot water
3 teaspoons fresh ginger, finely grated
2 teaspoons cumin, ground
1/2 teaspoon garam masala
Sugar to taste
Salt to taste
Pinch of chili powder
Mint sprigs, lemon slices for garnishing
Use a small pot and fill with hot water to soak the tamarind pulp overnight, or for 2-3 hours. Dissolve the tamarind pulp by squeezing it and remove the seeds. Use a nylon sieve to strain. Add all the remaining ingredients into the tamarind liquid, stir well. Strain again with very fine sieve or muslin cloth. Set aside to chill. Before serving, dilute with iced water. Add the ming sprigs and lemon as garnishing.
